Tips File: Hanging frames

Happy Monday! How was your weekend? We had so much fun the last time we went to Bluegrass brunch that we took my brother and his family on Sunday for the experience. Although we had to sit at the bar, it was still very fun! Hope you had a great weekend as well!

Today I want to share with you a little tip on hanging frames, which I’m sure is not unknown for a lot of people, but in case you haven’t thought of it, here’s my little penny 😉 Some of you already saw a sneak peek of the frames I hung for my mini mini gallery wall above my desk on Instagram, and here is the final product, at least for now 😉

Because I really needed a visual idea of the final product, and because I don’t have 8 hands to hold multiple frames while standing at a distance to appreciate the visual effect, I partnered up with my good friend photoshop for the help. First I took a photo of my empty wall and individual photos of each frame (nothing fancy, just a quick snap with my phone). Then I opened them all on Photoshop, cropped all frames and dragged them on to the “empty wall” photo. Then I started to play with the frames to get a good (and most importantly, real) idea of how each arrangement would look in real life. Once I decided on an arrangement I just hung them according to the the photo. Now, don’t forget to scale each frame accordingly, otherwise the end product will not be accurate at all! I did it by just taking the real frame and placing it on the shelf to see how big it was and then I took that reference onto Photoshop to make it the same size, am I explaining myself? All by eye really.
The whole thing was really easy and because it was really important for me to visualize it before executing it, I’m pretty sure I’ll be tackling my next gallery wall using this method 😉
