Today I want to share with you some a different post. My intention is not to leave you saddened or ruin your Friday (or your weekend), quite the opposite, (even though I’m not sure if my writing skills are that good to be completely honest), I hope, I really do hope, that I leave you inspired. I hope you feel more inspired from this post than from any of my regular fashion related posts.
This week I received some terrible news that left me incredibly saddened and that I haven’t been able to shake off my mind. Someone dear to me passed away. While I’ve always been aware of this beautiful gift we have called life, it’s easy to get caught up in trivial things, moreover if you are a blogger and you like to promote lots of material stuff. If in the midst of all this fashion and lifestyle blogging of mine, I haven’t been able to get across that I’m an incredibly grateful person, this is the post where I tell you so. I give thanks to God every single day for this life that I’ve been given, and for the blessings I’ve received.
With all this blogging of mine, which you could say that in great part is trivial blogging, I’m aware that material things are not essential in becoming or being happy. Sure, they do help, but they are just temporary possessions. What really is important is life, and even more important than life itself, is to recognize and always keep in mind the fact that life is too short and you should never take it for granted. While we consistently covet beautiful material things, it is essential that we understand that we have the most precious gift anyone could have: life. So do yourself a favor and enjoy it to the fullest. Don’t sweat the small stuff. Whenever you are in a situation where you’re sweating it, pause and think “is it worthy? is it really worthy?” I bet you it isn’t. Let’s stop complaining about inconsequential things, where does it take us? Please, don’t forget, for even a minute, that all these things are secondary.
Life is much more than all these shoes, handbags, jewelry, clothes…you name it. While I give to this blog a lot of attention, care and dedication, I understand that my family, my son, the lessons I teach him, the love I provide him every second (I do like to kiss that boy all day long!), the love I receive from my family, their support, their happiness, the connections we make with people, the positive impact we make on people’s lives, the smiles we share, the thank you’s, the moral support, the gratitude, encouragement, compassion, is what life really is about. To me, blogging is not only about advertising these boots, or that handbag, it really is about the connections we make with people, with people we don’t really know but people with whom we have a lot of common and we wouldn’t know it otherwise.
So today, instead of sharing a simple thought like “I love these shoes”, I hope I inspire you to enjoy your life. If your job makes you miserable, change it! In most cases it is possible. If you neighbor drives you crazy forgive him and offer that forgiveness as gratitude for the life you have. Tell the people you love that you love them. Smile to one another. Open the door to somebody else. Yes, there a lot of bad people in this world, but how can you tell if you don’t know them? give them the benefit of doubt and be kind, love and give back.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend with the ones you love. And if someone has left your side, I hope they are inspiring you the cherish the life you have and to live it to the fullest.
