Blog Series: In my Makeup Bag

This week I have Tobe from Because it’s Awesome sharing her current faves. Tobe is a talented graphic designer who, along with 2 friends runs The I am Project, an Etsy shop featuring amazing affirmation and inspiration prints that took off thanks to the amazing response to the I am series from her blog. Make sure to check out her blog, is one of my very faves!

What’s your current makeup bag?
Since I’m obviously quite loyal to Lancome, my makeup bag is usually their latest promotional freebie. But if sure wouldn’t be disappointed to pull this little Kate Spade number out every morning!

Do you have a makeup tip or secret you would like to share?
I’m really not big into makeup, so I doubt I have any tips or secrets that aren’t already well-known…I am pretty religious about using a very light eyeshadow shade all over my lids and under the arch of my brow and then creating depth along the crease of my lids. It’s amazing how much it opens up the eye. And, even though it’s not really a makeup tip, I’m lucky enough to have that inbetween hair that can go curly or straight. When I want to wear it curly, I MUST first use my Aveda curl enhancer when my hair is still pretty wet. Then I make sure to gently scrunch the hair while blow drying to encourage the curls to come out. I stop when it’s still slightly damp to prevent frizz.

Is there any makeup trend you’re looking forward for Spring?
This spring, I continue to be excited about a bright lip. I was slow to adopt this trend because I have never been a fan of the way lipstick feels or tastes compared to gloss, but once a friend convinced me to try that intoxicating red hue, I was hooked.

How does your day makeup routine differs from your night time one?
My day and night makeup routines are generally the same outside of the eyes. I LOVE a smoky eye for evening, so I usually switch things up with darker shadows, a liquid liner on top (I love Lancome’s Artliner), and Lancome’s Khol liner in Black Coffee undereye liner (which I tend to skip during the day). I’ll skip and kind of lip color to keep from looking overdone. My husband loves it because it is sure to make my blue eyes pop!
