Outfits File: The Sweater Challenge

Happy Monday guys! As I’ve mentioned all month, I’ve been organizing, decluttering, purging; something that has been amazing as I feel I can start the year with everything in order and able to make decisions based on my real needs and the space I have available. One of the things I noticed while purging my closet is that I have more than enough sweaters, and since I didn’t want to part with the majority I decided to take a challenge to justify the decision: I won’t repeat a sweater until I have worn them all. If I can’t find the way to wear a particular one, then I’ll put it on a pile to be donated. This way I force myself to one: work with what I have, two: be creative, and three: wear my clothes. What do you think? I’ll be sharing the looks on Instagram (in stories) and I’ll feature a category as highlights to keep track of it, want to join?

I think it would be a great way to make yourself wear what you own, and if you don’t wear it then what’s the point on keeping it? If you can’t “shop” your closet then that item probably doesn’t belong there. Only keep what you really love and what you think you’d buy if that was in a store. Whenever you’re purging your closet ask yourself, “if I see this in a store, would I buy it?”. If the answer is yes then by all means keep it, if it’s a maybe then think of how and to what occasion you’d wear it. If you can come up with at least 3 different outfits or options then it’s a keeper. But, if you think that you wouldn’t buy it, then the answer is pretty straight forward: toss it! Below are some ways I thought I’d share in case you need some inspiration or ideas, not that a sweater is that hard to style (how can you go wrong with a sweater and denim combo?), but it’s nice to mix things up so that you don’t get bored 😉

Layer it up with cozy pieces and let them peek
Let it be the pop of colour

Wear it with boyfriend jeans and dress it up with heels

Wear it over a shirt (looks cute with tie-front blouses!)

Go head-to-toe monochromatic or break it up with a contrasting layer

Wear it with a blazer for a polished look

Dress down party pieces for a comfy look
