Outfits File: How to Style a Sequin Dress

Ask me about what to wear for the Holidays and the first thing that will come to mind is SEQUINS. Sequins and the Holidays (especially New Year’s Eve), basically go hand-in-hand, so if you have any doubts about adding a sparkly number to your wardrobe, don’t think it twice! Yes, you’ll most likely won’t wear it the rest of the year, but rest assured you’ll take it out every Holiday season. As long as you go with a classic silhouette you won’t face any challenges in wearing it year after year. I promise!

I bought this dress last year (from Zara) and this year I was ecstatic to bust it out. Did you notice this is a dress and not a skirt? That’s right! Sometimes you just need a bit of creativity to make the most out of your clothes and given that sequin pieces make such a statement, a little remix can go a long way. If you thought that you could not repeat that sequin dress or skirt in your closet, I hope to prove you wrong! I’m styling this number two different ways to show you how you can get three completely different looks (the obvious and first look would be wearing it by itself). The second look will come up later this week so stay tuned 😉

For this look I just threw on a cozy and super soft sweater on (this is how the dress looks like) to make the dress look like a skirt, and then added a leather jacket to add some toughness and “cool vibes”, and somehow balance out the prettiness of the copper sequins. I think that any type of sweater would work here, both oversized or cropped would make the dress look like a skirt and give it a completely different vibe!
