Food File: How to Make Sugar Hearts

Oh my Goodness, when you read how freaking easy it is to make these sugar hearts you’re going to flip out! I don’t even take sugar with my tea but man aren’t they cute? If your Valentine takes his/hers coffee or tea with sugar, wouldn’t this be a cute little surprise? Considering how easy they are to make, you seriously have nothing to loose!

You need:
. 2 cups of granulated sugar
. Food coloring
. 4 teaspoons of water
. Parchment paper

In a bowl, mix the sugar with the food coloring and the water. Because I was looking for a light pink color I actually diluted 1 drop of red food coloring in one teaspoon of water, but I guess it all depends on the color you’re after; just keep in mind that 1 single drop is quite strong (on my first attempt I ended up with a very bright pink color, and that came from 1 single drop!). Mix it all using a fork or spoon and pour the mixture on your counter on some parchment paper. Roll it or press it down and use cookie cutters to cut out the heart shapes. Carefully transfer them onto a parchment lined cookie sheet and bake them for about 10 min at 200 degrees. Let them cool and you’re set! Isn’t it the easiest? Won’t take you more than 20 min (baking time included).
