Blog Series: In my Closet

Today I’m happy to have over my pal Gabrielle from Savvy Home sharing her style and a peek into her closet (aren’t you loving all those colors?!) here on the blog. Hope you enjoy the feature and interview!

Must have items in your closet: My matchstick J.Crew jeans (I own a few colors), basic tees (loving the J.Crew linen v-necks and the Club Monaco leather embellished t-shirts), chambray shirts (I’m loving J.crew’s linen chambray shirt), my Tory Burch flats and a short pink trench I bough at Zara years ago are my every day staples. For special occasions, I whip out my DVF wedges, my Club Monaco leather LBD, my black Tara Jarmon blazer, or my black Pedro Garcia heels. I have a lot of staples. Can you tell I don’t pack light?

Latest purchase: Just a few weeks ago, I bought this, this, this, this, this and this at J.Crew and a pair of mirrored polarized Ray Ban aviators. I promise I’m not a shopaholic, I just don’t get to J.Crew often.

Favorite color combo: These days, I’m all about really pale greys and lilacs paired with white, tan and chambray.

Who are your style icons? I’m all about getting inspired by bloggers when it comes to fashion. These days I’m loving Samantha Hutchinson and Chiara Ferragni. Of course I’m also inspired by classics like Olivia Palermo, Miranda Kerr and Jessica Alba.

Most treasured item: A Jerome Dreyfuss hunter green leather jacket my mom bought for me in Paris a few years back.

How do you keep your closet organized?
This is probably the interior designer in me speaking, but I color code everything: shirts, dresses, shoes… Other than that, it’s pretty disorganized really.

How often do you purge your closet? About twice a year when I switch out my wardrobes. If I haven’t worn it in a year, it’s out!

What are you getting this Spring to update your closet? A few casual shirt dresses, a lemlem tunic, delicate rings, a new statement necklace, suede booties and a panama hat.

Do you have any shopping advice for others you’d like to share? Always shop the sale racks first. Buy what you love in multiple colors. Invest in a few timeless pieces (especially accessories), but layer with less expensive stuff.

Any personal styling tricks you’d like to share? I always try to have at least one quality item on (whether it’s designer shoes or a bag, whatever) because it can even make a 8$ Forever21 dress look chic.

* Thanks so much Gabs!! 😉
