Blog Series: In my Makeup Bag

Today Carly from A Simple Affair is sharing her favorite makeup products with us. Make sure to check out her blog, it’s one of my favorite daily reads (plus she’s the sweetest!).

What’s your current makeup bag? Is there any you’re currently loving or wishing for?
Currently coveting that Tory Burch makeup bag (no longer available, similar here).

Do you have a makeup tip or secret you would like to share?
When applying blush, make a 3 with your brush.  Apply with a normal stroke, then bring brush up around the corner of your eyebrow, swoop back through the cheekbone, and loop towards your cheekbone.  Don’t make the 3 until you have repeatedly applied the blush onto your cheekbone.  Are you following me at all?! I swear it works wonders.

Any particular makeup trend that you’re looking forward for spring/summer?
Bright lips.  I recently joined the lipstick bandwagon.  It wasn’t easy picking out a red hue I felt comfortable with for my first lip product.  Time to push the boundaries and find something fun, flirty, and feminine for Spring. I’m hoping to find the perfect pink.

How does your day makeup routine differs from your night time one?
My look doesn’t change too much. At night, I just add on to my typical (and predictable) daytime look. I add bottom eyeliner and darker eye shadow to my outer corners.  I  also apply a little more mascara and if I opt for lipstick that night, I’ll add a pop of red.

Btw, Carly mentioned that that is the only eyeshadow she has tried, so if you have any suggestions send them her way!
