Decor and Interiors File: Dining Room Before and After

It’s been a long time since I’ve updated you on some decor changes around here (I’ve come a looooong way since this and this place looks very different than what it used to!) and today I’m excited to share my dining room before and after with all of you. Even though I had always loved my big dining table, the color was throwing me off because it had this red under-tone that wasn’t exactly “me”. For years I wanted a white dining table and it was just last year when I found the perfect one that met style, size and budget requirements 🙂

I wanted to change the feel of the space and make it more calm, mainly because I work from home and spend a lot (A LOT!) of time sitting at the dining (it’s my home office after all). I had my eyes on a lot of white tables at Structube (I love that their prices at quite affordable) and decided to go with the one pictured, which unfortunately is not available on the site anymore. It’s narrower than my old one but it expands! And even though I thought I would never have the need for the feature, it has actually been a life saver when I have a large group at home.

After finding the right table it was time to find the right rug and even though I had found many options over at Wayfair and West Elm, I decided to save some money and move my souk from the living. I have to say, it’s not exactly the most practical, but for now, it’s staying. Then I had to find the right art and that took me a while because I wasn’t sure on the direction I wanted to take. After mocking different scenarios I ended up going with these two art pieces from Minted which I LOVE. I’m still working on the tabletop decor, but here’s how the space used to look like and how it looks right now!

This is the before (photos by Heidi Lau) and below is the new look!

What do you think? I’ll be posting some tips on finding the right art and how to narrow down your options, so stay tuned!
