Decor & Interiors File: The One Room Challenge Week One

Today I have big news! I’ve been selected to participate in the 10th season of the One Room Challenge and I couldn’t be more thrilled! You probably remember when I did my powder room 2 years ago? (If you don’t and are curious click here for the whole before and after posts) and this time I’m giving it a little makeover along with my entryway 🙂

If you are new to the whole One Room Challenge thing, Linda from Calling it Home created this super fun decorating event where 20 bloggers transform a room over the course of 6 weeks. Every Wednesday I’ll be posting my progress and how I tackle the transformation, which of course is not my forte at all! I’m super excited to finally transform my entryway and completely change the mood of my powder bathroom. As you’ll see on the before photos, it’s pretty much a mess and I know that my designer friends are going to cringe when they look at the photos (eek!!)

I originally had a bench and a runner but since I like to play the interior decorator, they have been moved around my tiny apartment quite a lot (bench is now in my bedroom, runner is rolled up in storage). As of right now, I have my West Elm console (which I gave the marble contact paper treatment) and basically every single item I couldn’t find a place for on it. The whole situation is not nice or cohesive and is in serious need of some help. I have gathered some inspiration and been playing with a moodboard, but for now I’ll leave you with the before photos (to my embarrassment!)

See? Between the sad small lamp on the console and the plethora of books just thrown in there without any styling or thoughts whatsoever and the bathroom mirror (did you see?), I just don’t know how I have managed to keep it this way for so long. The worst part is that this is the entryway, meaning this is the first thing you see when you come home!!! I can’t wait to show you what I have in mind for these two, stay tuned for next week! And if you want more design inspiration from people who really know what they are doing check out the rest of the participants:

PS: the spots wall is not wallpaper, it’s a DIY project I did some time ago, if you’d like the steps just go the post here 😉
