Fashion File: How to Take your Maxi Dress From Summer To Fall

While there are a few items I move to the back of my closet once the seasons change and there’s no obvious use for them, I do keep some Summer faves handy and try to incorporate them into my Fall wardrobe with just a few tricks and tips (layering goes a long way!) A cami can be worn over a form-fitting turtleneck or long-sleeve tee, skirts can be worn with tights, your cute lace or eyelet top can be worn under a sweater and have some fabric peeking out, and dresses can be layered for a cozy and Fall appropriate look.
For instance, it only takes 3 simple steps to transition your favorite maxi into Fall. First, you want to swap your straw hat for a wool fedora (loving this style!) or wide brim hat, then you should think about adding a cozy layer that will not only give your outfit multi-dimension, but the much needed warmth (an oversized cardi, a faux fur vest, a cool leather jacket), and lastly, a good pair of booties to tie it all together. Whether your plans are apple-picking, dinner and drinks, or just a walk around town, you can’t go wrong with a good pair of ankle booties! Below are some options for each 🙂
