Food file: Crepes with Dulce de Leche

Last weekend I made dulce de leche, and to me, nothing tastes better with dulce de leche than crepes! If you want to take this dessert to perfection, I’d add a scoop or two of vanilla ice cream, for the ideal warm and cold dessert! 😉

For the dulce de leche all you need is a can of condensed milk. Take the label off and place in a large pot with enough water to cover it (make sure that there are at least 2 centimeters of water above the can). Bring to a boil, and then simmer (with lid on) for an hour. Always make sure that there’s enough water covering the lid, otherwise it could explode! After one hour, turn the can upside down using some tongs and simmer for another hour. Once ready, remove from the pot and allow to cool for a couple of hours, or even overnight. That’s it!
*I found more ways to make dulce de leche here 😉

For the crepes, I just used my mom’s recipe which I assume it’s pretty standard: 1 cup flour / 1 cup milk / 2 eggs/ 1 teaspoon vanilla.Whisk eggs and milk, add flour and lastly the vanilla. Easy as pie! Then cook on a lightly buttered frying pan until slightly golden.

Let me know if you attempt to make dulce de leche, or if you have another method!
