Life file: An evening with American Express Canada at Bar Raval

Last week, I was invited by Amex Canada to experience what it’s like to be a Cardmember by enjoying a fabulous dining event at Bar Raval, one Canada’s Best New Restaurants as determined by Air Canada enRoute Magazine, and as you can imagine, I couldn’t pass the opportunity! The event was part of Amex’s latest offering, where for the first time ever all Canadians could get access to some of the many amazing benefits Amex offers its Cardmembers through Amex Invites. All you had to do was enter your email at www.AmexInvites.ca to be given a promotional code for the chance to win tickets to the coolest events in film, entertainment and dining.
Being aware of the rave reviews Bar Raval has, I was really looking forward to the event; a night that ended up being amazing since the food, interior design, atmosphere, and company (I brought along my close pal Jenny) was superb! Could you think of a better way to beat the (rainy) Monday Blues? 😉
The restaurant serves Spanish tapas, and even though I was warned about the lack of vegetarian options, I didn’t find that an issue at all as I thought they had great options. Plus, one of waitresses was kind enough to offer a dish that wasn’t on the menu and it ended up being my absolute fave (wilted spinach with mushrooms if you’re wondering). We tried the Spanish platter, the tomato bread (so good!), the shishito peppers (loved them!), the warm pumpkin and hazelnut salad (delicious!), and Jenny ordered the Manchego & Anchovy stuffed olives and the Stracciatella & Boquerones. As you can see we ate a lot! And we had such a great time that we were among the very last to leave the place 🙂
My coat check card, which I thought was pretty cool 😉

Those tiles!
