Life File: Top Things to do in Williamsburg

Last month I had the chance to visit Williamsburg for the first time and I loved it so much that I think is a MUST when traveling to New York. The pace is a bit slower than in Manhattan, the unique shops and boutiques are incredible, and the food scene is pretty much on point. I loved walking around with no set plans, getting on a cruiser bike and exploring the streets, admiring the views of Manhattan….it was definitely a very relaxing experience and much more different than what I’m used to when I visit the Big Apple. Below are some personal findings and recommendations from my stay to consider if you ever take the jump and visit (please do, you’ll love it!).

STAY: I’d say that one of the highlights of spending time in Williamsburg is staying at the Williamsburg Hotel. The hotel is beautifully decorated, the rooms are modern and clean, and the staff is super friendly. If you’d like to read more about it and see more photos just go to this post.

DO: The best way to kick start your day is with a good sweat so I highly recommend taking a Soul Cycle class or going for a run all along the water as you can enjoy some breathtaking views of Manhattan. The Soul Cycle Studio is just a 5-8 min walk from the Hotel and for your run I recommend heading west and making your way to the Brooklyn bridge and back. Alternatively, you can grab a bike from The Williamsburg hotel (they are complimentary!) and take a leisure stroll around the city.

EAT: For a healthy and revitalizing pick-me-up following your workout I recommend picking up a green juice or smoothie at Juice Generation or The Juice Press.
Some good spots to grab a bite include The Butcher’s Daughter (love it there!), Chloe (great vegan option!), Egg Shop, Cafe Mogador, Sunday in Brooklyn and Cafe Colette.

COFFEE/TEA BREAK: Two really cute spots for an afternoon tea/coffee break with a sweet side are Bakeri and Bakeshop by Woops.

SHOP: Williamsburg is shopping heaven for vintage clothing and unique finds. One shop that I really liked was The Red Pearl (202 Bedford Ave.). They had an amazing selection of paper goods, decor items, clothing…. definitely a must if you’re in the area. Other shops that I absolutely recommend visiting are Love Only, Pema, Dearest, Amarcord and Whisk if you love everything kitchen 😉
If you love minimal jewelry then you MUST visit Catbird (219 Bedford Ave. just a few steps from Bakeshop) and AUrate (186 Bedford Ave.).
