Outfits File: Favourite Looks of 2017 and Their Fashion Lessons
Happy New Year friends!! I took an extended blog break (the longest I’ve ever taken!) to enjoy the Holidays with my family and be 100% present. I don’t get to spend every Christmas with my mom so I thought that was reason enough to pause for a little bit. I also needed some down time to relax and do nothing, something that I’m not exactly very good at but that clearly, both my mind and body needed. Now I’m feeling recharged, ready and have lots of content ideas for you to start the year on the right foot!
I can’t start the year without THANKING YOU for your support over the years and for allowing me to continue doing what I love. I hope I can continue to bring you inspiration and I assure you, I will push myself harder this year to share more content that is both useful and inspiring. I wish you the absolute BEST for this year and I hope that your dreams and goals come true! Cheers to a new year of opportunities!
I wanted to start the year with some fashion lessons from 2017 and while I was looking back at the outfits I shared here, I bookmarked some of my faves so, before I get into that, here’s a look back at some of my favourite outfits of 2017 🙂
One of the best Summer purchases I made was this eyelet dress I got from Anthropologie. The best part was that it went on sale with extra 30% off within days of buying it so I was able to get a price adjustment, woo hoo. Check the full post here.
There’s nothing like a crisp white blazer to dress things up and this one has been such a good wardrobe staple! Check the full denim on denim post here.
I’m not one to dress overly girly (I’m sure you have noticed), but I loved the sleeves of this jacket (it’s available in solid blush and black here) the moment I saw it and I love how I can throw it on a simple look and feel a bit more dressed 😉 Check the full post here.
My favourite season to dress is and will always be: Fall. Layered coats, jackets, you name it, I love layering 🙂 Read the post and how to dress-up basics here.
I wore this J.Crew skirt to pieces over the Summer (they have a similar one for $32 right now!!) That bag from Zara was also on heavy rotation (nothing like finding a good and affordable doppelganger!) Read the full post here.
Nothing like a good bow-tie blouse and blazer combo right? My go-to novelty blouse for the Holidays is, year after year, this tie-front blouse from Banana 🙂 Read the full post here.
Last Summer was definitely the season of white and blue stripes as you can see 😉 Click here if you want to read about what to do in Prince Edward County.
Over-the-knee boots can be so practical to keep your legs extra warm and a little gingham pattern can add some flair to a simple outfit. Read more about his look here.
Another great Summer buy that I got for a fraction of the original price thanks to waiting for a sale and sprinting to the store as soon as it was advertised (In all seriousness!) 😉 See more of this button-front linen dress look here.
Do you have a white lace top you wear over and over? I wear this one from Aritzia every.single.year. More of this look here.
Vests are not just meant to be worn over tops, you can definitely layer them over jackets! Read why you need a vest in your wardrobe here.
Nothing like a camel coat and a great pair of sneakers to transition into Fall. More of this look here.
