Outfits File: Three Winter Essentials for Your Next Getaway

Happy Monday, hope your weekend was great! Today I want to share with you three basic essentials you should definitely consider packing for your next winter getaway. These warm and practical layers truly made a difference on my recent trip to Mont Tremblant so I want to put them in your radar!

First up is the whole heat tech collection from Uniqlo (click here if in Canada). Not only do these pieces work, but they are pretty affordable, and if you don’t own super high-tech winter gear I recommend stocking on a few essentials. You’ll find tops, bottoms and socks and the collection includes regular heat tech, extra warm, and ultra warm pieces. I bought an extra warm turtleneck (CAD) in black that not only kept me warm while snowshoeing, but also looked great with jeans for dinner out; a long sleeve top (CAD) and leggings (CAD). Since I didn’t need ski pants because we just did snowshoeing and cross-country skiing, I just layered up on tights to keep me warm (insulated ski pants are kinda bulky for those activities). My layering pretty much consisted on a pair of heat tech leggings (I suggest you size down because they are super stretchy), fleece lined leggings and waterproof pants.

The second item I highly recommend bringing along is a packable winter jacket, you know, those super lightweight but equally warm jackets that fold-up and don’t take much space? Let me tell you that they are very practical. I brought along this one (CAD) and loved it because it didn’t take much space nor it didn’t add much weight to my backpack, plus, it was very convenient to have on hand. It was easy to fold up and store when cross-country skiing (it gets hot and sweaty!) and good to have as an extra layer when needed. This one from Patagonia is also a great option, as it is thin and light but WARM as hell. Highly recommend both!

Last but not least, fleece lined or wool leggings are a MUST! They will keep you warm while allowing movement and if it’s not one of those suuuuuuper cold days you’ll be able to get away with layering waterproof pants on top. Also, if you’re going to be out and about, they look chic with a parka, winter boots, and wool socks, and will definitely keep your legs warmer than a pair of denim 😉
