Outfits File: Why You Need a Vest as Part of Your Fall Staples

When it comes to Fall dressing I think we can all agree that it’s all about the layers, and one piece that makes layering easy while adding a bit of extra warmth is a vest. Vests are incredibly versatile and available in a variety of styles to suit different occasions and preferences (think puffer, shearling, leather, to name a few), so if you don’t own any, you should definitely consider adding one to your Fall wardrobe. They are perfect for those first weeks of the season when the mornings and evenings are crisp and you don’t feel quite ready to bust out your wool coat but need some warmth; plus, they work with just about anything: t-shirts (like this), flannels, turtlenecks, jackets (like here), even dresses! (see here).

I’ve been wearing this one non-stop lately and love how it takes layering to a new level, there’s nothing like a layered Fall look right? Some great options out there include this one, this one (keep the rest of your look simple and let it steal the show!), this one (great for outdoor activities), this one and this one. If you need more inspiration on how to wear a vest here are 3 looks I styled some time ago 😉
