If there’s one thing I can definitely say about this Winter is that I’ve completely embraced it and enjoyed it to the max. Snow tubing, ice skating, running outdoors all season long, and most recently, visiting Mont Tremblant for the very first time, prove that I have not been sitting around hibernating.
Just a few weeks ago my friend Victoria and I squeezed in our busy weeks a short trip to Mont Tremblant. Have you ever been? While I’m not exactly a ski bum myself, our itinerary was filled with tons of fun and relaxing activities, and with the convenience of flying out from the city island (you seriously can’t top living steps away from the city airport, anyone else a fan of flying with Porter? Hands down my favourite way to travel!) we packed our bags with tons of layers and decided to unplug for a few days.
We wanted to take full advantage of our time there, and with three nights and two full days we packed in as much as we could. Scroll down and read my very own personal guide to Mont Tremblant and recommendations on what to do, where to eat, where to stay….and if you’re interested in a detailed version of my sunrise-to-sunset travel diary, you can read all about it here. There you can have a better and clear idea of how much time each activity took us and plan accordingly to make the most out of your trip 😉
STAY: If you want to take advantage of being right in the centre of all the action, cafés, and shops, then there’s no better place to stay in but the pedestrian village. There are many hotels around, but I feel like the IT place to stay is the
Fairmont. The property just went through a huge renovation and while the last phase is still yet to come (rooms), you’ll love the modern look of the the spa, restaurants, and amenities. Plus, the staff is incredibly friendly and they do go out of their way to make sure your stay is a memorable one. With 4 outdoor hot tubs, an indoor pool, a fitness centre, and some great views of the village, it’s a bit of a no brainer 😉 I absolutely LOVED staying there.
ENJOY: One activity that’s fun for both kids and adults alike is dog-sledding. I had never done this and while I was bit worried about it, I was assured by many people that the dogs love running, are absolutely fine in the cold, and enjoy pulling the sled. I definitely had that impression at this place so that was good. We booked an hour-long ride that included a 20-30 min stop at a tent where hot chocolate, tea and cookies were provided (not a bad way to warm up I have to say!)
RELAX: If there’s one place you MUST visit while in Mont Tremblant is the
Scandinave Spa! Although it’s located in the area, you do need to drive there (perhaps a 10-15 min drive?). There you can have a massage, enjoy the benefits of hydrotherapy, admire the beautiful surroundings…basically melt all your stress away and RELAX.
DO: If you’re not into skiing or snowboarding, or if you simply want to try something different, then you have to give snowshoeing and cross-country skiing a try! Both activities are super fun and get your heart rate going, plus, you get to enjoy some breathtaking surroundings and the quiet and calm of the mountains. We had ours booked through the
Activity Centre in the Village.
SEE: Even if you’re not going up the lift to ski down, I highly recommend you get on the gondola to enjoy some spectacular views of the landscape. Between the snow-covered trees you get to see from atop and the views of the Village far below, you’re guaranteed quite a scenic view!
EAT: If you’re looking for a bite around the Village you’ll find that there are options for all tastes. We took advantage of the brunch at the Fairmont and indulged ourselves in some serious morning fuel. The spread was pretty epic, and included fresh baked pastries (these were so hard to resist!), yogurt parfaits, fruits, different types of bread, preserves, eggs, pancakes, bacon, french toast, cereals and granolas, cheeses and charcuterie…. you name it.
We ate twice at the Axe Bar and Lounge at the Fairmont because we loved the food there. One night I had an incredibly delicious veggie burger and the other night I had a flat bread pizza that was equally good. The desserts are made in-house and if you have a sweet tooth, you’ll find them satisfying 😉
On our second night we ate at
Owok, a Thai and Chinese restaurant located in the Village. The atmosphere was super chill and unpretentious, and the food was really good.
I hope you plan on going, you’ll have so much fun! The village is the cutest place ever, the atmosphere is both energizing and relaxing and there’s nothing like being surrounded by nature. If you do, don’t forget to pack some warm layers as being dressed appropriately is key to being able to fully enjoy your trip. I shared three packing musts
here in case you’d like to read about it, but if you have any questions on what to pack or related to this guide just let me know! Happy to answer any questions!
