Blog Series: In my Closet

Next sharing her styling tips and a peek into her closet is my friend Rachel from Little Bits of Lovely, hope you guys enjoy it as much as I did!

Describe your personal style: I find my personal style is constantly evolving, but overall, I would say it would have to be comfortable + classic with a modern twist.

Must have items in your closet: Must-haves are blazers, ballet flats, skinny jeans (black, blue + white), grey/white/black t-shirts, scarves + statement necklaces. During summer I live in maxi dresses and harem pants.

Most treasured item: My Mulberry Del Ray bag + Helmut Lang black blazer, both of which I bought in London last year.

Who are your style icons? Jenna Lyons, Emmanuelle Alt, Olivia Palermo, Audrey Hepburn, Alexa Chung.

What are you getting this Winter to update your closet? (Rachel lives in Australia, so the next season for her is Winter): I stocked up on a lot when I was in Europe late last year, but still on my list this winter will be a pair of black long leather boots and a few Equipment shirts, which are great to wear to the office and are so easy to make an outfit look chic with a pair of black skinny jeans!

If you could only shop at one shop which one would it be? Net a Porter

How often do you purge your closet? At least a few times a year. I
only keep items I wear all the time unless it is something I know I
could never part with. My rule when purging is if I don’t love it then
it has to go. I now have that same rule when shopping so I only buy
items I absolutely adore!

How do you keep your closet organized? I purge regularly so I know what items I have + then I have everything organised by colour.

Any personal styling tricks you’d like to share? Invest in good
quality classic pieces that will last several seasons. Items like trench
coats, long boots, a winter coat + blazers are worth spending a bit
more on if you know they won’t date. You will also never go wrong with a
black blazer, a white t shirt and a good pair of jeans! Don’t follow trends too closely; buy items that flatter your features; only buy things you absolutely love; and most importantly, wear what makes you feel good.
